The train was steam hauled as it left Blackpool North Station for a journey along the scenic Ribble Valley Line.  Jubilee Class No. 45690 Leander (pictured) headed this Saturday’s train

The train will be steam hauled from Blackpool to Preston, and then from Preston, through Penwortham, Lostock Hall, Bamber Bridge, Houghton, Blackburn, Blackburn, Clitheroe, Hellifield, and Carnforth.

Along the way the train will join the Hellifield line at Daisyfield Junction, tackle the steep climb up to Whilpshire Tunnel, and then take in the long descent towards the 48-arch viaduct over the river Calder at Whalley.

“This will be the first time we have organised special trains stopping at Blackpool,” said The Railway Touring Company’s MD Kelly Osborne.  “Blackpool is an iconic British seaside destination, with so much to see and do, that we are confident these trips will prove popular and hope to make them regular events in our steam calendar.”
